With all the repaints coming our way from the Danbury Mint this year, the question on everyone's lips is "what the color?" Well, we've done some sleuthing and come up with the following insider info. DR NEWS SCOOP: The Highlander is Back!! Danbury Mint is Repainting their '48 New Yorker.

Tuesday, 18 May 2010 13:11 by Peter
Well the boys at DM have done it again--read my mind. How else could they have known I was dying for a repaint of their 1948 Chrysler New Yorker convertible with the Highlander plaid trim option? When the first one came out I loved it but there were other models ahead of it on my want list, and sadly it was gone before I ever got that far down the list. This isn't the best news for folks who wanted to sell theirs for a huge profit (they've gone for as much as $350 to $400), and it's terrible news for the poor bastard who just bought one at that price, but for the rest of us it's cause for celebration! We were the first to annunce this model on May 14th in our Diecast Forum, and the word quickly spread. Still no information about color yet, but the word is that they'll be repeating that fabulous highlander plaid interior which made this model so desirable in the first place. Thank you Manny & Moe!

DR EXCLUSIVE! Full Review and Photos of DM's Fabulous '50 Crestliner Repaint

As repaints go, they don't get much better. Originally issued in 2004 and praised for it's level of detail and multitude of features, the two versions offered (red or green with black accents) were attractive enough, but this repaint in Hawaiian Bronze and Wagon Tan (a Spring color combo introduced mid-year) is by far the prettiest in my opinion. We're the ONLY site where you'll find an in-depth review and photos, so see for yourself what a terrific model this is. But I warn you, you might have to buy one by the time you're through. Just don't forget to tell 'em Peter sent you! :-)
