My Collection 2008

Having moved last year and set up in a new place, I thought it was about time to take some updated photos of the ever-growing diecast collection...

I took these photos in August of 2008, the first shots since the prior year's move and the new arrangement of display cases. There may be a model more or less since these were taken, for example the Watson custom '58 Thunderbird LE is not pictured, but they'll still give you a good idea of what the collection looks like today.

These weren't taken with my digital SLR camera so many of them didn't come out so nicely, but until I have the chance to replace them with really good photos, I hope you will enjoy them...

The Display

An overview of my Collection and Display Cases

These are my Ikea cabinets modified into display cases. You can read all about the conversion on my Custom Display Case page. Naturally, I wanted to show you all the cars in greater detail, so I took close-up shots of each case. They're shown below, shelf by shelf, with a brief description of each model:

DM 1930 Cadillac V-16 Roadster in 1:12 Scale

The centerpiece of my collection, both literally and figuratively.

My pride and joy, and the first large scale (1:12) model I've ever owned, this Cadillac is truly a museum masterpeice, and must be seen in person to be fully appreciated (and it's HEAVY too).

Note the black convertible top on the '53 Eldo. The 1953 eldorados that were actually produced in red with a solid black interior were optioned with a black top, not a white one, although it was available. The convertible top on this model, originally off-white and very plastic-looking, has been professionally painted in flat black enamel.

I like to display the '55 Thunderbird with the black convertible top from the DM '57 Thunderbird. I think the combination looks sharp with the yellow paint and the yellow and black interior.
